Jasmine Smith and Abby Logan have been paddling together probably since before they could walk. Coming together again for for the Open Women's Board Rescue in their last event of the SLSNZ 2018 Nationals done in spectacular fashion in the peaking swell and late afternoon light. Heading into the medal presentation suspense was building as placings had not been confirmed - GOLD to our girls!!

Day 2 of the SLSNZ 2018 Nationals dawned with a blustery Southerly and jump in swell that had event management relocate the U16 competitors at Waikanae.
The 2018 SLSNZ Nationals got off to a great start with perfect conditions across the beach at Midway. Being on home turf was an asset to the Wainui competitors who were able to get a good amount of training in on the competition arena leading into the Nationals.
2018 SLSNZ Nationals in Gisborne based at Midway Surf Club got off to a great start with the official opening day where the Masters competitors get out and go hard.
With the final Nippers session for the 2017/2018 season on Sunday 11 March we reflect on the importance of coming together to give our youngsters the opportunity to learn water and beach skills in a safe and fun environment.

Weather conditions eased some what for day 2 of Oceans 18. Beach availability was a concern for organisers today with Beach Flags on the schedule and not much room until the tide receded with strong onshore winds continuing to push in swell combined with a king tide due to the full moon.
Oceans 18, the National u14 championship of NZ for surf lifesaving is going on at the moment. Up in Auckland at Orewa beach. Riversun Wainui is there and our members are going unreal. Surfs howling onshore messy as anything and raining but Wainui kids are loving it.
